Milly is an iconic American brand known for exquisite prints & colors and its special little vintage vibe. Created in 2001, the brand is worn by celebrities such as Gwyneth Paltrow and Victoria Beckham and is a real success story. The person who set it up is Michelle Smith.. and let me explain you her story as I found it actually quite interesting (and you know how much I love to hear about the ‘how to’ behind success stories!).

Michelle Smith initially studied fashion illustration (which she earned a scholarship for) before studying fashion design at the New York’s Fashion Institute of Technology. In order to pay for her studies there, she was working at the Hermes boutique in Manhattan but, upon graduation, she wrote to the President of Hermes requesting an internship at their Paris headquarters.. Her request was granted, making Michelle Smith the first American Hermes employee sent to work in Paris! While in Paris, Michelle Smith continued her studies at the prestigious design school ESMOD before returning home to New York and establishing her own design business, Milly. With such an academic background and positive attitude, no wonder her brand is such a success story!

Their collection is all about vibrant pops of color on a base palette of black and white.

The other collection which I discovered there is Equipment. Equipment is a French brand which, back in 1975, had the idea of transforming men’s shirts for women’s wardrobes and the brand is all about – and represents the creme de la creme in the fashion world for – shirts and pajamas. Recently re-launched by Serge Azria, all the models are heavenly tailored and are true pieces of classic luxury.

The piece that I preferred in this brand was this bright yellow silk pajamas.. how fun and new for a luxurious pyjamas! Well looks like both our days and nights are actually going to be full of colours this winter..
